Suncity Hub's Business Acceleration Programme Update

Greetings from Suncity Hub! We are excited to share the latest developments from our Hub Acceleration Programme as part of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP). Our journey to foster innovation, support startups, and drive economic transformation in Ghana is in full swing.

Enrollment of Promising Startups

Suncity Hub is on a mission to identify and nurture the next generation of Ghanaian entrepreneurs. Our target was ambitious yet clear: to enroll 20 startups in our business acceleration program. Aligned with the Ghana Economic Transformation Project, this program is a collaborative effort involving key partners including NEIP, The Ministry of Finance and The World Bank.

Diverse Applicant Categories

The response to our Call for Applications was truly inspiring. Entrepreneurs from various districts in the Bono region demonstrated their enthusiasm and potential by applying. We are proud to announce that a total of 170 applications were received, encompassing a diverse range of business ideas and backgrounds.

The applicants were thoughtfully grouped into three categories to ensure a holistic approach to empowerment:

- People with Disability (PWD): 7 applicants

- Women-led Businesses: 58 applicants

- Others: 105 applicants

Training & Orientation

On the 31st of July, 2023, Suncity Hub hosted an insightful and empowering one-day entrepreneurship training workshop and project orientation. This event was a key milestone in our program, as it provided a platform to engage with all 170 applicants. The participants were introduced to the NEIP business acceleration program and were guided through the selection process.

One of the distinguishing features of our training was its accessibility. We aimed to ensure that language was not a barrier to learning and empowerment. As such, the training was predominantly conducted in the local language, enabling us to effectively communicate the essential aspects of the entrepreneurial journey.

Next Steps

As we move forward, the Suncity Hub team will meticulously evaluate the applications and conduct the selection process to identify the 20 startups that will be part of the business acceleration program. We are committed to guiding these aspiring entrepreneurs toward their goals, nurturing their skills, and enabling them to make a meaningful impact on their communities and the broader economy.
